It's getting cold

I realized today how much I must nag my girls to come to the table to eat before their food gets cold when Cora asked me to play Uno. I had to finish up something on the computer (as per usual, right? What was it before computers that kept our mom's from coming right away?). The second time she came to ask me she said, "Mom, hurry and play Uno with me, it's getting cold!"

Soren's first word(s)!!!

Soren's first word, or actually words, is "Good job!" Now, if you heard it, you might not know what he's saying, but it's more like "joo jaah" with the exact intonations we use when we say "good job!" the million times after he stands and walks by himself. So there it is. Not mommy or daddy, not ball or up, but good job! Someone knows what's important to him :-)

Happy almost-Valentine's Day! Isabelle and Cora have had a great time the last few days cutting out hearts. Isabelle was sick earlier this week, so there has been a lot of cutting, coloring and movie watching! She missed three days of school for some kind of bacterial infection ??? Swollen and tender glands were the main problem, plus a low-grade fever. Fun for everyone! I had strep throat the week before, but so far all the rest are doing alright. How's that for the dullest homemakerest blog entry ever! Who wants a documentation of sick children? :-) But there you have it. It's my life and sometimes it involves sick people that I love :-)

Soren walks! (first day, Feb. 4)

So he's a little over 13 months now, and finally a few steps! He actually practices by himself a lot and gets a big kick out of himself. He gets way too excited and launches himself towards you whenever we get him to walk to each other.

This is how you feed a baby

This is what would happen if I wasn't around :-) That's mac & cheese at the end of the wooden spoon, fresh out of the pot. The girls thought it was great and wanted a turn! They're pretty handsome those two Olson boys...

In my haste to help Cora with a bloody nose (yay for those! Not!), I asked Isabelle to finish feeding Soren his yogurt. She rarely is given such a task, as she tends to let Soren take over and that he did. I could hear her giggling in the kitchen, and came in to see that Soren had taken both the yogurt container and the spoon from her and was happily helping himself. Soren is learning to stand on his own, and he LOVES getting applauded and praised, so it makes it hard from him to stay standing while clapping and being so thrilled with himself. I tried to cut out the parts with Cora streaking by, but there is still a little nudity here...
